Douglas Mendes


SC Mendes career has embodied wide and diverse scholarly activity, with a diverse academic path which includes the University of the Wes Indies (UWI) Faculty of Law, Barbados where he graduated with a Bachelors of Law.

SC Mendes went on to attend the SIR Hugh wooding law School where he attained a Legal Education Certificate and thereafter to the University of Oxford where he graduated with a Msc. In International human Rights Law with distinctions. SC Mendes has served as Lecturer at the Faculty of Law St. Augustine Campus for many years and also held the position as Head of Department of Law. SC Mendes is also well known for his Public Service contribution both locally and internationally, as Co-Founder of the UWI Rights Advocacy Project (URAP), VP of Caribbean Centre for Human Rights, Member of International Council on Human Rights Policy, Honorary Legal Counsel of the International Planned Parenthood Association, Coordinator of the Coalition for Social Justice and Human Rights and currently serves as a Member of the Board of FPATT
